SPRINGFIELD ILLINOIS WEDDING | MICHAEL & EMILY

This was such a sweet wedding day to be apart of. We traveled to Lincoln IL to meet Michael & Emily (Mikey & Em as we proceeded to call them throughout the day!). We adored these two right off the bat and had such a fun time witnessing their Springfield Illinois Wedding unfold.

Michael got ready at his and Emily’s home while Emily got ready at her mom’s house and we were loving all the personal details. Emily got ready in her grandma’s bathroom and we were in love with the vintage atmosphere. It paired perfectly with Emily’s Springfield Illinois wedding day look. She even wore her grandmother’s vintage locket with family photos inside. It was super cool getting to hang out with her while she did her makeup and get ready for the special day ahead. We appreciate how these two trusted us completely and let us artfully roam around to capture their day unfolding.

We liked getting to meet the family pets that popped up during the getting ready moments. How neat to be able to capture them in their typical environment. This is why it's so special when our couples choose to get ready in their own homes. The location always adds a very personal feeling to the photos.

These two were married at their home church in the small town of Lincoln. The ceremony was relaxed and intimate. Surrounded by friends and family inside the small church, it felt like an even bigger wedding and everyone was so happy to be there celebrating.

Their first look moment took place around the side of the church. We could tell that Em was so ready to see Mikey. Her excited energy heightened the very anticipated moment and these two felt even more relieved when they finally got to embrace each other.

Their reception was held in a nearby town and the drive there was so beautiful with miles of cornfields and crops. We were dying to get the couple into an open field to capture the atmosphere of the surroundings better. BUT FIRST the bride and groom made a small pit stop through the McDonald’s drive through. We love that they took a moment to snag a snack and were so relaxed with the plans of their day. In our opinion, that's exactly how a wedding day should be!

For their one-on-one photos at dusk, we took full advantage of a huge corn field nearby. It was a short walk from the reception and ironically located on, “Corn Street.” So funny!

We were obsessed with Emily’s long veil. Paired with the extra windy day, her veil floated in the air and looked like something from a fairytale through our camera lenses. It was magical.

Michael & Emily finished out their Springfield Illinois Wedding at the Emden Community House. It was an old historic venue that used to be a school. We loved the cool vintage vibes of the whole day and it fit the couple’s aesthetic well. Their friends and family cerebrated all night with toasts, cake, and special dances.

Michael & Emily, thank you for having us for your beautiful Springfield Illinois Wedding day! We loved getting to know you both and getting to photograph these moments for you. Welcome to the married club, friends!

XO,
Mark & Kelly
