Overlook Barn Wedding | Matt & Stephanie
Matt & Stephanie’s wedding was one for the books! We absolutely loved everything they did. From hosting their special day at Overlook Barn, a killer venue in Banner Elk, to having their adorable dog, Putter, a part of their wedding day festivities. These two took advantage of every detail and opportunity to make their day completely them and it paid off ten fold!
Remember these two back from their Winter engagement session at The Farm At Brushharbor?! They couldn’t stop laughing and making jokes in front of our camera and it was a complete blast! These two are hilarious and we’ve had so much fun working with them throughout their engagement and wedding day. Matt & Stephanie’s wedding day was held on a gorgeous October day in Banner Elk. Autumn had finally began to show up and being up at a higher elevation in the mountains was a perfect showcase of the beautiful changing leaves below. The Overlook Barn was an amazing spot for these two to tie the knot and had all the beautiful rustic vibes that spoke to this couple’s hearts. We were swooning over the big white barn and gray concrete walls inside. It used to serve as a horse barn and had been completely renovated into a wedding venue. They did an incredible job and we can see why it’s so adored by the couples who get married there. We’re ready to come back anytime! 😉
Due to three different local events (other than M&S’s wedding), two fall festivals and a home App State game, Matt and his groomsmen were running late due to traffic. Luckily, a groomsmen got a policeman’s attention and they were personally escorted to the wedding in order to make it on time! Matt finished getting ready and opened his gift from Stephanie just in time to meet up with her for their special First Look. After that, we grabbed some super gorgeous bridal party photos and then it was time to get hitched! Matt & Stephanie’s wedding ceremony was held out in the large field next to the big white barn. It sat perfectly overlooking the wide mountain view and was a beautiful moment for their family and friends to witness.
Of course, a favorite moment of ours has to be when we got to steal Matt & Stephanie for their adventurous one-on-one photos! Right after the couple finished their dinner and just as the sun was beginning to set, we all hopped in our jeep to look for a cool spot to photograph them. We found a killer path that led up to a huge mountain view and had Matt & Stephanie climb up on a rock to maximize the sights. They were completely up for anything we asked and trusted our vision… a perfect fit for our artistic souls! We loved that they truly embraced the moment and didn’t worry about the time. As the sun began to fade, we roamed a little bit higher on the mountain top to capture this lovely couple sharing their first few moments together as husband and wife. It was epic and we know they will be able to look back on these beautiful photos for years to come.
For anyone who knows us and what we believe in as photographers, they know that we are all about moments over details. However, we still get super excited when we see intentional and thoughtful details at our couples’ weddings. You can tell when the couple was very involved in the ins and outs of their wedding details and Matt & Stephanie absolutely were! We were laughing out loud when we spotted their pun center pieces. We first learned about Matt & Stephanie’s love for puns during their engagement session so we were thrilled to see how they incorporated them into their reception deets. They had a smore cake, a dessert & coffee station, and even a dog room specially reserved for Putter & stocked with doggie champagne & treats. And those were just a few of the stand out details that screamed “Matt & Stephanie’s wedding!” We really loved seeing their personalities shine and their day felt so fun and personal.
