Introducing, Chris & Elizabeth and one of our favorite weddings of 2019! They chose the grand Graylyn Estate in Winston Salem to host their understated but intimate, morning wedding. They chose to have Sunday brunch with less than 30 of their closest friends and family in attendance. And even though the Graylyn Estate is one of the biggest homes in North Carolina, their wedding day felt cozy and quaint.
The Graylyn Estate looked like something straight out of Downton Abbey and even had a vintage car parked right outside the bridal suite. The grounds were large and so much fun to go roaming around on. Inside, we found an epic staircase with gorgeous architectural windows and outside there were endless gardens, greenery, and statues everywhere. The Graylyn Estate is dreamy and romantic, the perfect place to tie the knot with your person.
Despite a little early morning sun, it was mostly an overcast day from start to finish. The rain held off at all the most important moments and even waited for Chris & Elizabeth to say their "I-Do's" outside in the gardens. The couple chose not to have a bridal party and kept things focused on love and being intentional towards one another.
Chris & Elizabeth were the most vulnerable and trusting couple and we absolutely adore them for that. They're also both quite shy and decided to exchanged vows in private, before sharing a ceremony with their guests later that morning. We snuck Chris away to the beautiful cobblestone bridge behind the estate and then led Elizabeth to meet him. We held our breaths as she walked up behind him and he turned to see her for the first time. A completely magical moment. With happy tears in their eyes, they both embraced and proceeded to share their vows quietly to one another. It was such a special thing to witness and document from behind our cameras.
Shortly after the ceremony, the rain came and Chris & Elizabeth remained completely trusting and ready for some romantic one-on-ones. So we took them all over the grounds for some fun shots under umbrellas and in the beautiful atriums around the property. It was a blast and so incredibly hard picking favorites for their blogpost.
The rest of their day was filled with crepes, coffee, and boardgames with their friends. It was perfect in our book and we loved being a part of every moment.
Chris & Elizabeth, THANK YOU for giving us time, your trust, and your vulnerability. Sharing these moments with you two was beyond special and we feel so grateful. Wishing you both all the love!
XO,
Mark & Kelly
