Backyard Pennsylvania Wedding
Jon & Vanna met when they were in middle school. They were friends who grew up together and fell in love. It’s no wonder why they’re so connected and similar in personality. They’ve shared so many moments together and now with Jon on leave from the Navy, they finally get to tie the knot! They officially were married earlier this year. Then, they shared a traditional Vietnamese wedding. And now for the third time, they chose to say “I-Do” outside Jon’s mother’s home in Pipersville, Pennsylvania.
Upon arriving, we were greeted from family members and welcomed into their beautiful home. Familiar with our candid style, we were trusted to do our usual wandering and continued to roam around the property. This is always a favorite moment for us because we get to familiarize ourselves with the venue and see all the final details of our couples’ day coming together. We walked to the backyard and found Jon & Vanna’s gorgeous ceremony spot tucked in the middle of two long rows of Pine trees. The aisle was lined with hundreds of rose petals and the trees were dripping in thousands of twinkle lights. It was a comfortable, overcast, October day and we couldn’t wait to photograph every beautiful moment in this awesome location.
Jon & Vanna shared a sweet First Look before it was time for their ceremony and we loved seeing their adorable reaction to one another! When it was time for the ceremony, their guests gathered around the alter and stood next to the rows of Pine trees forming a perfect long aisle for Vanna and her father to walk down. It looked like a scene straight out of a romantic movie! Their ceremony was officiated in both English and Vietnamese. And beneath the Pines, with their closest family and friends surrounding them, they were married… again!
Right after the ceremony was another Vietnamese tradition where both families of the couple sit together and introduce each member of their families to one another and give gifts and well wishes to the couple. It was a lovely moment to witness.
Jon & Vanna decided to keep their ceremony very small and intimate and then have a big reception party with more guests to follow. So afterwards, their friends and families all pitched in and continued to set up and prepare all of the reception details. Food was prepped, drinks were wheeled in, champagne was popped, and candles were lit. As more and more guests continued to arrive, the daylight faded away, and everyone gathered under the tent for dinner. We couldn’t get over all the glowing twinkle lights and flickering candles that covered every table. They even decorated their fire pit with mason jars and babies breath!
After an amazingly joyful day, Jon & Vanna’s guests surrounded them with huge sparklers for a fun photo op! We loved everything about this day and these people and can’t believe how lucky we were to be able to document their love story. It truly was a delight!
Jon & Vanna, thank you for flying us to PA to share in your special day. We loved getting to celebrate with you both and witnessing your amazing love for one another! You guys ROCK!
XO,
Mark & Kelly
