“Virginia is for lovers” couldn’t be more true! And when we first met Austin & Michelle, we saw their amazing love for each other right away. Getting to chat with these two via FaceTime was the biggest treat… We can’t remember another first meeting where we laughed so hard! Austin & Michelle’s wonderful sense of humor had us laughing out loud and we loved connecting with these guys right off the bat. And, oh my goodness does Michelle have the most contagious laugh, ever!
They chose to host their special day in Virginia Beach right on the inlet. The Yorktown Freight Shed was a beautiful venue that sits just next to the water and is a perfect spot to watch the boats pass by. There was even a schooner that fired off a canon! The day was very overcast but luckily the rain held off the entire day. We loved all the vibes of this cute, little harbor town by the sea!
Before the day got going, Austin & Michelle chose to share a First Look together. In our 9+ years of photographing weddings, we have never had a groom’s reaction quite like this… As soon as Austin turned around and saw his bride, he bent over and put his hands on his knees and couldn’t stand back up. It was the sweetest, “speechless” reaction and was completely priceless to witness.
We adored their beautiful ceremony, held under the tent right next to the waterside. Our favorite moment was when Austin knelt down and made vows to Michelle’s two beautiful daughters. He promised to be the best step-dad and talked about how much he loved them and their mother. Seeing their happy, teary eyed reaction made everybody melt with happiness. The two girls were complete angels throughout the entire wedding and we could see their excitement for their parents to finally be married.
For their reception, guests were able to flow inside and out and chairs were removed to make room to dance the night away. It was such a fun reception with delicious food, great toasts, and crazy dancing.
We quickly stole a few last moments of daylight with the newlyweds and wasted no time pulling them out to the long pier. We couldn’t believe the golden sunset that appeared out of nowhere. And these two continued to make us laugh and brought so much joy to every photo. We could hear all their guests hollering and singing across the water and even whistling over to the happy bride & groom!
Austin & Michelle, thanks for sharing these special moments with us! You two were such a pleasure to work with and we wish you and your sweet girls all the happiness in the world!!
