Raleigh Wedding | Paul & Erin

Raleigh Wedding | Paul & Erin

Meet Paul (lovingly referred to as “Bob!”) and Erin. They met as Freshmen during a wilderness first aid class, they both were taking at a tiny school in Wyoming. They quickly discovered how much they both loved adventuring, hiking, and climbing and fell in love!

They chose their beautiful church, Sacred Heart Cathedral, to be married. They both have very big families with lots of siblings on each side which meant a big bridal party. We could immediately see how loved Paul & Erin are by all of their friends and families. Everyone was so welcoming and happy to be celebrating these two, become one! We absolutely adored their bridal party and had the most fun photographing this loving bunch. They were all full of smiles and laughs and so supportive of Paul & Erin.

We love that they chose to say “I-Do” in beautiful October. Paul & Erin were blessed with perfect weather and gorgeous golden sunshine throughout their day. As soon as the ceremony was over, we all headed to the Bride’s family home for their reception. We pulled into the beautiful property that Erin grew up on and instantly felt the legacy of this wonderful family. We continued driving through the woods and to the clearing where we saw Paul & Erin’s big, white reception tent across the lake. It was the perfect setting for these two to celebrate their first day of married life. And we particularly loved being able to witness all the special spots of the property, through Erin’s eyes. She mentioned a big field of tobacco sticks on the other side of the woods and said it was a special spot where her and Paul would go running sometimes. We knew it would be a great place to steal them away for their sunset photos.

One of our favorite touches to this day was the adventurous photos of Paul & Erin scattered throughout the reception site. They had so many to share of their travels and various hikes and climbs. It was inspiring to see something they both loved so much and thinking of how those adventures will continue into their married life, together. They also named all their table center pieces after various mountains, which was very fitting for these two climbers.

A crazy moment was when the couple was introduced into their cocktail hour. To everyone’s surprise, Paul decided to scoop Erin up in his arms and carry her out, onto the patio. It would’ve worked out great, except he accidentally lost his footing on the stairs and quickly started tumbling down with Erin still in his arms! Luckily, these two had a guest, with quick reaction skills, come to the rescue. The guest caught the two newlyweds without breaking a sweat and Paul & Erin never lost the smiles off their faces. That’s what we love about these two, they’re always happy and smiling, no matter what!

Finally, it was time for some sunset photos with this adorable pair. We roamed all over the property and followed the fading light wherever it led us. We found this incredible playhouse that said “honeymoon suite” on the outside. And then we headed straight for the woods that Erin had mentioned earlier. We knew it was a little bit of a walk through some thick branches but Paul & Erin were up for anything and once we saw the sun poking through the trees, we knew it’d be worth it! When we reached the other side of the woods, the golden sun greeted us in a field of tobacco sticks. We made it! Erin told us that she always loved this field and that it had been a special place to her and Paul. We were in love. We spent some time photographing the couple and allowing them to share some private moments away from their guests. The sun quickly began to set and we knew we had to get them back to their party. But we felt so blessed to witness these two and some of their first moments of marriage.

Paul & Erin joined their party by dancing the Macarena as their first dance. They toasted, ate sweet treats, and danced the night away under the trees and twinkle lights.

Paul & Erin, thank you for sharing these moments with us and for being such a joy to work with. We pray that God continues to bless you both in your marriage and through your sweet families.

XO,
Mark & Kelly
