Maison May Wedding | Brooklyn, NYC
When this couple first contacted us, they told us their wedding day would be simple. So simple in fact that they weren’t even planning on having a traditional ceremony. They said they wanted to be surrounded by their friends and family, dining on good food, listening to nice music, and mix in some vows somewhere in between. We loved the sound of the day they were describing to us and couldn’t wait to be a part of it. We wanted them (and all our couples) to understand, that we do not care how traditional or untraditional the wedding is, we want to document the day unfolding as naturally as possible. In our eyes, this day could not have been more perfect because it reflects them!
We started the day off in DUMBO and it was a gorgeous afternoon in Brooklyn! We took our time exploring some iconic photo spots and loved starting off the day with some one-on-one’s with the couple. It was a busy morning for them as they finished their final preparations, so we loved that they decided to ‘start’ their wedding day with this private time together overlooking the city.
Afterward, we hopped in an Uber and headed over to the beautiful Maison May. We were smitten with this place from the second we saw it and after getting to know our couple better, we realized what a perfect fit their venue was for them. Everything they had described to us over FaceTime had come to life and the decor and details were simply stunning. Our favorite spot was the spectacular patio in the backyard. Trees draped with twinkle lights strung up above, green ivy across every surface, candlelit tables, iron chairs, and lovely florals. All tucked away on a cozy terrace in the middle of busy Brooklyn. What a dreamy setting for an urban wedding!
Our absolute favorite moment of the day was the ‘ceremony’ itself. Since this couple decided to keep their day simple, their ceremony consisted of their family and friends gathering around them as they spoke their vows to one another. The officiant, who was their good friend, reminded the guests to keep their cameras and phones away so everyone would be able to share in the moment together. It was such a special moment indeed! Everyone laid eyes on the bride and could feel her excitement as she began to tear up. Watching this happy couple declare their love to each other and witnessing their family’s joy for them had our hearts bursting. The happy tears continued to flow and we’ve never seen a wedding with so much laughter! It was beautifully intimate and unforgettable.
We can’t thank these two enough for bringing us to NYC and allowing us to witness their special day. It was so genuine and absolutely one of our favorites to date!
