There are no words to express how truly awesome it was to meet Nick & Jen and to get to witness and document one of the most special experiences in their lives. We know how passionate we feel about getting to photograph these amazing moments for our couples. So working with people like Nick & Jen, who truly value our work and the experience we provide through our photography, is the icing on the wedding cake!
When we first spoke to Nick & Jen, they weren’t 100% decided on eloping but were pretty much leaning in that direction. They both live and work in Southern California and the idea of planning a ‘big traditional wedding’ just didn’t feel like them. They wanted to have a completely unique and intimate wedding experience where the sole focus would be celebrating their love. Eloping on the breathtakingly beautiful, Cliffs of Moher in Ireland soon became music to their ears. We met with them via FaceTime and told them how much it meant to us to be a part of their day, no matter what they chose to do for their wedding. We are always so honored when someone wants to include us as a part of their plans and we don’t care where in the world that leads us, as long as our couples do what matters most to them! Of course once Nick & Jen shared with us that they were in fact, choosing to say their vows in Ireland, we were beyond excited for them. And super pumped to share an unforgettable experience in such a magical setting.
We love that Nick & Jen chose to elope! We strongly believe that getting married and declaring your love to one another doesn’t (and shouldn’t) look the same for everyone. What matters most is the the person you’re standing next to, saying your vows to, and choosing to spend the rest of your life with. Not the location, not the dress, and certainly not the details. All of those things are exciting to plan but should never be the only focus or the thing(s) standing in the way of actually getting married and enjoying the heck out of one of the most special days in your life.
Nick & Jen are both a couple of goofballs! We love these two for their incredible senses of humor, wit, and love of laughter. We met up with them in Doolin on the day of their elopement at the coolest little bed & breakfast, the Sea View House. It was so quaint and the Irish couple who owns and runs it, were the sweetest. Their adorable B&B sits perfectly perched on a hill overlooking the little town and is in walking distance of the coolest Irish pubs. We loved having the B&B to ourselves and took advantage of all the little nooks and crannies of this charming place. Once Nick & Jen were ready, we drove up the narrow farm road (on the wrong side!) to get to a secluded spot on the Cliffs. On the way, we passed a huge vacant castle and Nick quickly jumped out of the car, and hopped the fence to get a closer look. Jen got to see him having some fun from a distance and we loved getting to document each side of their experiences throughout the day. We passed tons of travelers, walking to and from the Cliffs, and even a friendly donkey.
Once we arrived to the GORGEOUS Cliffs of Moher, we began seeking out the most private spot we could find for Nick & Jen to share their First Look. There were some other tourists off in the distance but everyone was respectful of the bride and groom and allowed them their privacy. We couldn’t have asked for a better spot and we literally had a huge stretch of the Cliffs all to ourselves. It was AWESOME!
We loved the moment of Jen walking up behind Nick and them seeing each other for the first time, that day. It was a huge moment of anticipation for them and Jen even said that she couldn’t have waited any longer to see Nick and to begin their day together. Once Nick laid eyes on Jen, he didn’t stop smiling for the rest of the day. They both were beaming with joy and Jen’s mom who was also their to witness their ceremony was so proud.
The ceremony was so intimate and beautiful. The waves crashed on the Cliffs hundreds of feet below us and everyone was feeling the magic of the moment. Standing on top of the humungous Cliffs, Nick & Jen shared an Irish tradition of tying their hands together with rope (called hand-fasting). And then they shared the sweetest vows to one another resulting in lots of happy tears and laughs.
After the ceremony, and a quick bite of cake, Nick & Jen were ready to roam all over the Cliffs. It was a blast getting to hike around this incredible place and also be able to take our time and truly soak in the whole adventure. Nick & Jen completely trusted us the entire time and were so game for everything we threw at them. We loved every minute and never wanted the day to end. We even got to hike out on a very narrow cliffside, where no one else seemed to be wandering but us. Hand in hand, Nick & Jen hiked through scenic spot after scenic spot and each turn somehow became more breathtaking than the last.
We feel so grateful that these two chose us to capture this special day, for them. We love that they prioritized their photography and memories over a slew of endless other choices that can go into planning a wedding. And because of that, they’ll be able to share these amazing moments together for years to come.
Nick & Jen, we LOVED everything about this day (and day after, when we got to share an adventurous ferry around the Cliffs of Moher)! Thank you for being vulnerable and allowing us to witness and document your first day together as husband and wife. We can’t wait to see where your beautiful marriage together leads you, but we know that no matter what, it will be an amazing adventure!
