Boathouse at Sunday Park Wedding | Alex & Lisa

Boathouse at Sunday Park Wedding | Alex & Lisa

We have been dying to share this special day with the world! You may remember these two from their killer mountain engagement session. We connected with Alex & Lisa right away and couldn’t wait to get them in front of our camera’s again, this time, in Richmond VA!

Alex & Lisa met at their first year at Appalachian State University. They quickly developed a friendship based on their similarities (their love for the show, “The Office,” being our favorite) and then slowly realized that they connected on deeper levels as well.  They said, “we want our wedding day (and marriage) to have the humor of Michael Scott and Holly Flax, the friendship of Jim & Pam, and the romance of Dwight & Angela.” We couldn’t agree more! 🙂

They chose to host their wedding ceremony at their home church near Richmond. It was an exciting day with their closest friends and family members in attendance to celebrate. Joy was in the air from the start of the day until the bubbly getaway at the end of the night. We absolutely LOVED this group of people. Everyone was so nice, friendly, and super fun! We knew we already loved Alex & Lisa’s fantastic personalities and so it’s no wonder that they have such an awesome group of friends and family. We especially loved Alex & Lisa’s amazing reception, hosted at The Boathouse at Sunday Park. The party was held lakeside with a great nautical ambiance, including ducks, docks, and tons of beautiful boats. We were also blessed with an absolutely killer sunset, which made for some super romantic one-on-ones for this sweet couple. We decided to steal them away as close to sunset as possible in order to get that really romantic dusk lighting. And mixed with the sunset, the water, and Alex & Lisa’s magnetic connection, we were completely swooning! So thankful when couple’s give us portrait time at different moments of the day so that we’re able to provide even more variety in their photographs. Being that Lisa is a talented photographer herself, she knew that granting us with complete trust would result in the best pictures! We feel so blessed that they chose us to document their big day and loved getting to know them both.

A few of our favorite things from the day include: The gorgeous floral bouquets with silk ribbon hanging from them; their awesome donut table and the neon “treat yo’ self” sign; the killer music playlist that Alex & Lisa put together for their guests to walk in to. And watching Lisa and her bridesmaids passionately singing them to one another while waiting to go into the ceremony; Lisa’s brother singing their first dance song; stealing the couple away for lakeside one-on-ones; And our favorite, Alex singing and playing a whole set of songs for his new wife at their reception!

Alex & Lisa’s wedding date happen to fall on my (Kelly’s) 30th birthday, so snagging a delicious cinnamon donut from the mouth watering donut table was a given! But not only did these two share their tasty treats with me, they also surprised me by having all 150 of their guests sing “happy birthday” to me! I was completely surprised and totally overwhelmed with their generosity to include me in their wedding plans. How completely sweet is that?! I was thrilled to spend my birthday in such great company and doing what I love… documenting two people in love. And I couldn’t have asked for two better people to spend it with!

Alex & Lisa, could you guys please go ahead and move down to Concord, NC already?! You two are awesome and we can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed documenting your day. We love that you love God and think you both have an amazing life, full of love and laughter, ahead of you. We can’t wait to watch it unfold!

XO,
Mark & Kelly
